At the very edge of an old map, past the sea monsters and the, “here be dragons” warnings, there’s a small apothecary. The little old hunched over hag that runs it has never heard of your condition. She has no idea what you’re dealing with. But she listens carefully and creates an item specifically for you.
What is it? A potion? A talisman? What does it do? Does it actually help, even a little?
Sometimes we need little reminders of things we have or can do that bring even a few moments of relief, or distraction from our symptoms. The act of journaling alone can be that moment of relief or distraction. We don’t always need to journal about the bad things, we can boast about the small wins, I took a shower, I made my own lunch, I woke up. Ok, that last one is a win for everyone, sick or not, but you get what I mean.
Hopefully these creative journaling prompts help us think outside the box and make looking inward and reflecting on our illness/symptoms a little less painful.
